We keep asking God to fix the world — but what if He’s been asking us to start with ourselves?
These days we see more corruption taking place in our country and in our lives. Many live in fear, anger, a sense of unfairness, defeat, and worry. Some cry out for justice. Others are simply tired and want it all to be over — waiting for the day we are lifted out of this mess.
When we pray, it often feels like our prayers go unanswered. We see evil all around us and feel powerless to change what’s coming. But God did not abandon us, nor did He ask us to fight evil alone. He gave us His Spirit. He gave us His Word. And most importantly, He gave us instructions.
God said:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
— 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
Notice who God speaks to first — His people.
God calls Christians to prepare themselves before asking Him to heal anything else. To turn back to Him. To mend that relationship first. This is the step many believers — even you reading this right now — have skipped. Instead, we jump straight to what we think is important: fixing others, fixing systems, fixing outcomes.
But God says to focus on Him first.
When you are in tune with God, your prayers begin to align with His heart. Your actions begin to reflect His will. Your emotions settle, and your words are spoken from a stronger foundation. God promises to heal the land — but first, we need to be healed.
And if you think you don’t need this step, you may need it the most.
If you are one of God’s people, this is not optional. God was clear. If we want the land healed — whether that land is our country, our state, our city, our household, our family, or even our own heart — then we must turn to God first.
Work on your relationship with Him.
And watch, with your own eyes, what the Lord will do.
